Jagath’s second spell of photography began in mid 90s with his return to Sri Lanka from France. He was a nominee to the award – editorial series at the New York Photo Awards 2009 (NYPHA’09). His work has been accepted and exhibited at international photographic exhibitions held in several countries including Austria, Australia, India, United Kingdom and Sri Lanka. These include international exhibitions such as Royal Photographic Society of UK and Hasselblad Austrian Super Circuit, Maitland International, Sydney International, Southampton International etc. Most of the exhibitions were under the patronage of either the Photographic Society of America or the International Federation of Photographic Art or both and the Royal Photographic Society. In 2005, He worked with Photo Voice, a UK based organisation conducting photographic workshops for youngsters affected by the tsunami in southern Sri Lanka to help them report their lives on their own. At the invitation of the Goethe-Institut Mumbai Jagath took part in the Urban Changes photo project conducted in Mumbai,India, this year along with six other international photographers. He was nominated for the US Spider Award (professional category) 2007. Jagath is passionately involved in teaching photography and Day and Beyond is his recent most student project comprising of 10 photographers from different parts of the island. The project included a long duration workshop and exhibition, which was held at the Alliance Franҫaise de Colombo Auditorium in May this year. Jagathʼs work was present at the Singapore International Festival of Photography 2008 and the digital exhibition of the Chobi Mela V International Festival of Photography in Dekha, Bangladesh in January 2009. He has mastered the techniques of photo printing of gallery quality on state of the art inkjet printers. Digital photography post-production too is in Jagathʼs forte making him a versatile photographer who could manage the complete workflow of digital photography.
